First Smiles

Exactly on Luke's 6 week birthday he gave us his first precious smiles. Seeing that sweet face makes all those sleepless nights all worth it!! How could you not fall in love with this little guy?

We took Luke to the doctor this past week for his 1 month check up even though he was close to 6 weeks and he weighed 11lb 13oz and was 22 3/4 in long. Definitely in the 95 percentile for both height and weight. He skipped to the next line on his growth chart. He is our little chunky baby and I love it. This past week was a busy week in our house. We had Luke's appt, my 6 week follow up (and Luke tagged along), and our first family photo session as family of 4. It went pretty well just lasted a little longer than I expected as newborn sessions usually do. Chad was thrilled. You know how he loves having pictures made :). I think the photographer got some really great shots. I can't wait to see them!

1 Month

Wow I cannot believe it has already been a month. Believe me some of the days have run together and seem to be somewhat of a blur. As I mentioned before Luke was such a good baby and that continued until the 3rd week. I mean he still is perfect to us but some things have changed. The actual nursing thing has ended and now I am exclusively pumping just to make sure little one is getting enough (eliminating reasons why he is crying) and he tends to be extremely fussy during the night time hours. We are still trying to determine if it is a growth spurt or colic. We have had some really bad nights. Even though he has made me cry a time or two he is still the most lovable baby and I enjoy our naps together. We broke down and have allowed him in the bed with us. Sometimes you do what you have to in order to get sleep. He usually has one good stretch of sleep for 3-4 hours but the other times he generally needs to be in the bed with us to sleep. He is great during the day and has been such a trooper running errands with us and going out to eat.

He is a growing little boy too. When he left the hospital he weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and at 2 1/2 weeks he weighed 9 lbs 11 oz and was 21 1/2 in long. He now weighs approximately 11 lbs based on our scale. We go back to the doctor on April 12th for his one month appt. No official smiles yet but he does look at you with the sweetest face and you can tell he is trying so hard to understand what you are saying to him. Here are a few pictures from the past month.
